The Community-Based Vocational Training (CBVT) Program, located on the Ellsworth campus, is a non-credit program for people who have barriers to employment. CBVT is a transitional program bridging the gap for students who either graduate from a special education classroom/resource classroom or who have a disability that prevents them from becoming competitively employed. Basic academics are stressed, along with job readiness preparation, career exploration awareness, mainstream college classes, and independent living skills. The CBVT students are evaluated by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) and have been recommended for vocational training.

The Individualized Resource Program (IRP), located on the Marshalltown campus, is a specialized non-credit vocational training program designed for students who have a barrier to employment. Transitional vocational programming by IRP offers tutorial assistance for MCC credit classes, job-readiness preparation, and/or community-based pre-employment training. Referral is by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS), and tuition support is provided by DVRS and the Workforce Development Center.
