Consumer Directed Attendant Care (CDAC)
 
Who:

Adults wishing to access HCBS MR services must receive Supported Community Living (SCL), Respite, Supported Employment (SE), or Consumer Directed Attendant Care (CDAC) services.

Children wishing to access HCBS MR services must receive Supported Community Living (SCL), Respite, Supported Employment (SE), or Consumer Directed Attendant Care (CDAC) services.

   
What: One to twenty-four hours of support per day. This service is designed to provide assistance to the consumer with self-care tasks. Assistance may include but is not limited to skilled activities such as catherizations, colostomy care, and tube feeding. Non-skilled assistance may include but not limited to: toileting assistance, bathing supports, wheelchair transfer, and housekeeping. The service may be provided by individual or agency, depending on the consumer's needs.
   
Where: The consumer may access the service in the home or in the community.
   
Does Not  
Include: Daycare, respite, room and board, parenting, and case management. CDAC is not a baby-sitting service. This service cannot replace a less expensive service. An individual provider may not be the spouse, parent, or step-parent of the consumer aged 17 or under. The individual provider may not be the recipient of respite services paid through the HCBS MR waiver on behalf of a consumer utilizing HCBS MR services.
   
Unit: One 8 - 24 hour day, or one hour.
   
Maximum  
Units: 365 days per year. Leap year will be 366.
