Mental Retardation Waiver

The Medicaid Home and Community Based MR Waiver provides service funding to support individuals in achieving their life goals. They are available to children and adults with a primary diagnosis of mental retardation who require support services in order to remain in the community or to return to their community from an institution.

Services

MR Waiver services are designed to be flexible to meet the needs of each consumer. Eligible consumers may receive the following services:

1. Support Community Living (SCL)

2. Respite

3. Supported Employment (SE)

4. Home and Vehicle Modifications (HVM)

5. Nursing

6. Home Health Aide (HHA)

7. Personal Emergency Response System (PERS)

8. Consumer Directed Attendant Care (CDAC)

NOTE: MR Waiver Nursing and Home Health Aide services are not available to consumers under age twenty-one. These services are available and must be accessed through Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT).
