Respite
 
Who: Children or adults living at home with their families or guardians.
   
What: Respite is designed to provide short-term relief in the absence of the family or guardian (i. e., vacation, a night out, etc.).
   
Where: This service shall take place in homes integrated into the community or out of the home.
Respite may be provided in another family's home, the consumer's home or a group home, camps or organized community programs (YMCA, recreation centers, senior citizens centers, etc.) or a facility (ICF/MR, hospital, or a skilled nursing facility).
   
Does Not  
Include: Room and board if Respite is provided in the consumer's home. Respite is not simultaneously reimbursable with Nursing, Home Health Aide, or Supported Community Living services.
Respite may not be used when parents or guardians are at work.
   
Unit: One hour of service.
   
Maximum  
Units: Each consumer may receive 576 hours of Respite per year with the maximum of 336 hours (2 weeks) per month. Unused units cannot be carried over.
