Supported Community Living (SCL)
 
Who: Adults wishing to access HCBS MR services must receive Supported Community Living (SCL), Respite, Supported Employment (SE), or Consumer Directed Attendant Care (CDAC).
Children wishing to access HCBS MR services must receive Supported Community Living (SCL), Respite, Supported Employment (SE), or Consumer Directed Attendant Care (CDAC).
   
What: One to twenty-four hours of support per day. Consumers age 20 or under who require more than 52 hours per month will need a home health provider to request EPSDT to cover the service. A written request for the additional SCL hours is also needed.
The service is designed to assist the consumer with their daily living needs.
Assistance may include but is not limited to: community skills, personal needs, transportation and treatment.
   
Where: The consumer has several options:
They can live with their family, guardian or in other typical community homes, (i.e., houses, apartments, condominiums, townhouses, trailers, etc.),
All living arrangements must be integrated into the community.
Each living unit may have one to three individuals (maximum).
In larger settings (apartment complexes) the majority of living units shall be used by persons without disabilities.
   
Does Not  
Include: Transportation to work or day program, room and board, vocational services, day care and case management. SCL is not simultaneously reimbursable with Nursing, Respite, or Home Health Aide services. SCL is not day care or baby-sitting.
   
Unit: One full calendar day or hourly (effective 1/1/97).
   
Max.   
Units: 365 days per year, leap year will have 366.
